What is Obesity (Adiposity)?
First of all, obesity is one of the most important health problems of our century, which negatively affects the quality and duration of life and causes many diseases. It is a worldwide accepted disease. Obesity is an increase in the amount of body fat that can impair health. It occurs as a result of disruption of energy balance. Diet, exercise and genes create energy balance. In cases where the energy intake is higher than the consumption, the energy balance is disturbed.
Obesity is the underlying cause of many diseases such as heart, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, respiratory disorders, fatty liver, lung, joint and gallbladder diseases. In addition, it has negative effects such as depression, social discrimination, deterioration in self-perception (self-confidence).
