The first and only thing you need to do is decide to quit smoking. This is one of the most important decisions a person can make in their life. Once you have made this decision, acupuncture will make it easier for you to quit smoking.
In those who quit smoking, the body has a very difficult time because the brain cannot perform its serotonin secretion function in the first week. The brain starts to do this task only after 72 hours.
If the patient’s withdrawal symptoms are avoided during this 72-hour period, quitting smoking becomes fairly easy. Acupuncture treatment helps to eliminate the complaints caused by quitting smoking. Thus, the person who has decided not to smoke quits without any difficulty. Because acupuncture treatment stimulates the brain to release serotonin and endorphins without the need for smoking again, and in the next process, the brain regains its autonomy for the release of these hormones – as in the past.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WOULD IT TAKE TO QUIT SMOKING WITH ACUPUNCTURE?
In order to quit smoking, 5 sessions are sufficient, depending on how many years our patient has been smoking, how many cigarettes he smokes per day, and how addicted he is. In some of our patients, even a single session may be sufficient. During the treatment, not even a single cigarette should be smoked and nicotine preparations (such as tape, gum, etc.) should not be used. Otherwise, we’re back to where we started.
