Expectations and Recovery

Recovery and recovery expectation may differ according to the type of treatment options applied. Aluminum chloride: Initially, the patient needs to use it 3 to 7 times a week. After the sweating returns to normal, the need for use decreases to once in 7 to 20 days. If skin irritation occurs, the physician may recommend a cream containing around 1% hydrocortisone.

Botulinum toxin: The swelling after the application will disappear in a few weeks. The effect of a single injection can last up to several months. Some patients may need to administer a larger number of injections.

Iontophoresis: Sweating may decrease after 6 to 10 applications. After that, once a month treatment may be sufficient.
Complications: Some causes of hyperhidrosis can be serious. In case of excessive sweating, a doctor should be consulted.

  • If there is prolonged, excessive and unexplained sweating
  • If the sweating is accompanied by chest pain or a feeling of pressure in the chest
  • If weight loss is observed along with sweating or excessive sweating occurs during sleep, a healthcare provider should be consulted.
  • If fever, weight loss, chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations are seen together with sweating, these may be a sign of an underlying hyperthyroidism problem.
